Host Healthcare out of San Diego has earned a strong reputation, particularly among new graduate therapists. Their formalized new grad program, day-one insurance, and dedicated clinical support team set them apart from agencies that leave new travelers to figure things out alone. Pay is competitive but not the highest in the market.

Mid-large agency; well-established new grad program
PT, PTA, OT, COTA, SLP — all therapy disciplines
New grad here. Host walked me through everything: the tax stipend math, what questions to ask at my first SNF interview, what productivity expectations to watch out for. I didn't feel thrown in. The clinical liaison was available when I had a caseload question in week two. I genuinely couldn't have asked for a better first contract experience.
Good agency, solid benefits. Day-one insurance was the reason I chose Host — as a new grad I couldn't afford a gap in coverage. Pay was lower than what some of my classmates at ProTherapy were making, but the support structure felt worth it for my first contract.
I’ve done three contracts with Host and have been consistently happy. The recruiter knows my preferences and finds assignments that match. The company culture feels genuinely supportive compared to larger corporate agencies where you feel invisible.
Host was a great first agency. Recruiter was responsive and the onboarding process was thorough. I eventually switched to ProTherapy for my third contract because the pay difference was significant, but I have nothing negative to say about Host. They set me up for success.
The clinical support team at Host is something other agencies don't have. Having someone I could call when a productivity standard seemed unreasonable or when a patient situation was complex was genuinely valuable in my first year of travel. Worth a slight pay reduction for new grads.
Host has been a reliable partner for five contracts. I’m not a new grad anymore and I’ve considered switching to a higher-paying boutique agency, but my recruiter relationship is strong enough to keep me here. My main feedback: pay could be more competitive for experienced travelers.
Host wins on new grad support structure. For experienced travelers, ProTherapy delivers meaningfully higher take-home pay with equivalent recruiter quality.
